By bringing concepts of precision farming to intensive aquaculture fish production, it can be optimized more sustainable while focusing on welfare criteria. This requires a shift from mass smart production and consider each as an individual. Therefore, is required able identify in tank or sea cage. In this article, we prove the feasibility identification using iris biometric characteristic. Based new dataset, captured controlled out water environment: 1) fully automated recognition system presented utilized for experiments 2) distinctiveness stability pattern Atlantic salmon ( Salmo salar ) assessed. Results distinctiveness, which indicates that suited identification. However, has low stability, means changes over time. Due frequent interaction system, usually multiple times day during feeding, there ample opportunity keep template up-to-date, makes lack long-term nonissue. It concluded feasible, with precondition templates are periodically updated combat stability.
